FAQs
What parts of my new air conditioning system are covered under your standard warranty?
Our industry-leading warranty covers all factory-installed components that are critical to the performance of your air conditioner, including the compressor, condenser coil, evaporator coil, and internal mechanical and electrical parts. Thermostats, filters, and ancillary accessories supplied by the manufacturer are also covered when installed at the same time as the system. Items that are subject to normal wear, such as disposable air filters or refrigerant lost due to outside damage, are not included.
How long does the manufacturer’s warranty last and what are the conditions?
Most new high-efficiency systems we install in the Erwin area carry a 10-year limited parts warranty starting on the installation date, provided the unit is registered within 60 days. If registration is not completed, coverage usually defaults to 5 years. The compressor may receive additional lifetime coverage on select premium models. Annual professional maintenance, proper system sizing, and operation within design limits are required to keep the warranty valid.
Do I need to register my equipment to activate the warranty, and how do I do it?
Yes. The majority of HVAC manufacturers now require online registration to obtain the full 10-year parts warranty. Within 60 days of installation, simply visit the manufacturer’s website, enter the model and serial numbers found on your indoor and outdoor units, and provide your Erwin service address. We send you a registration checklist at install, and if you prefer, our office can complete the registration on your behalf at no additional charge.
Can the warranty be transferred to a new homeowner if I sell my house in Erwin?
In most cases, yes. Manufacturers allow a one-time transfer of the remaining warranty term to a new homeowner as long as the request is submitted within 90 days of closing. A small transfer fee (typically $50–$100) may apply, and proof of original registration and maintenance records must accompany the form. Transferring the warranty can add value to your property and peace of mind for the buyer.
What is the difference between the manufacturer’s parts warranty and your labor warranty?
The manufacturer’s warranty pays for replacement parts that fail due to a manufacturing defect. Labor to diagnose, remove, and install those parts is not included. Our company provides a complementary 1-year labor warranty on new installations, meaning you pay nothing out of pocket if a covered component fails in the first year. After that period, you can purchase an extended labor warranty of up to 10 years, which pairs with the manufacturer’s parts warranty to create true bumper-to-bumper protection.
How do I file a warranty claim and how quickly can I expect service?
If you suspect a warranty issue, call our Erwin office or submit a request through our website. We verify your equipment’s serial numbers, confirm registration, and schedule a diagnostic visit—usually within 24 hours for no-cool situations. Once the faulty part is confirmed, we file the claim with the manufacturer, pick up the replacement part from the distributor, and install it, often the same day or next business day depending on parts availability. All paperwork and shipping are handled by our team so you never have to deal with manufacturer red tape.
